Summer Drive to the East End

Click below to hear me read this post to you!

Yesterday we took a drive out to the east end of the island. We really didn't have too much of a purpose. (Do we ever??) Other than to escape a bit to some place quieter than the hellhole we live in.

We passed a lot of farms. At one point we discovered a Llama farm and I got out to try and flirt with these two who wanted nothing to do with me, aside from stopping what they were doing and looking in my direction. I suppose it's better than coming over and spitting. We eventually found ourselves in Greenport and took the ferry, Tinkerbug and all over to Shelter Island, even though we weren't sure what was there (planning is good, no?) Here is the view from Tinkerbug (yes the peace sign again) while on the ferry.

Shelter Island was all private beached where you couldn't even park but there were some cool Victorian houses, here are a couple of pictures I took of the water and one of the houses:

So, we took the ferry *back* again (it was only about a ten minute ride, $17 for round trip though) and started to head back on a slightly different road, where we passed an old amusement place with a miniature Golf and so decided to play.

I won by the way :) and even got a hole in one on one of the greens! :) Yay! I came in 4 under par! Who knew? Then we drove some more (It was a LOT of driving) and found a little town called Southold. We parked and walked around some of the little shops, it was a bit reminiscent of Rhode Island which I love. We found a little sandwich shop and got a couple of sandwiches and relaxed. By then it was about 2pm (we had left around 7) and we needed to head back to miss the rush hour traffic (it's over a 2 hour drive). We got gas on the way home and I thought it was notable that:

for $45.00 you only get a little over ten gallons of gas. That's very scary.

Wow, check out the hot little short-shorts! You're in good shape. :)

The gas thing is definitely scary. We took a day trip yesterday to Waterton National Park for our anniversary ~ to get out of the hole that we live in LOL ~ and feel the sting of the gas pump.

Oh no they are really just regular length. lol I thought my legs kind of looked like tree trunks! But thank you! lol

Yes it is nice to escape out of the holes now and again. THe gas prices are rediculous. I don't know how we are going to afford heat if we are still here once it gets cold. :( it will cost about $1300 to fill up our oil tank, in comparison to about $875 last year which was tough enough to pay.
